Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Questions

Botox is a non-surgical injectable treatment made from botulinum toxin that temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for wrinkles and fine lines. It is commonly used to smooth out forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines between the eyebrows. Botox has been used safely and effectively for cosmetic and medical purposes for over 20 years.

Botox works by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles. This causes the targeted muscles to relax, which in turn reduces the appearance of wrinkles and prevents the formation of new ones. The result is smoother, youthful-looking skin.

The effects of Botox typically last between 3 to 4 months. After this period, the muscles gradually regain activity, and wrinkles may begin to reappear. Regular treatments can help maintain the results over time.

Botox is an FDA-approved treatment that has been used for both cosmetic and medical purposes for over two decades. When administered by a trained professional, Botox is generally considered very safe. Side effects are rare but may include temporary bruising, headaches, or drooping eyelids.

Botox is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have neurological conditions, or have a known allergy to botulinum toxin. It's important to consult with a licensed provider to determine if Botox is right for you.

Botox injections are quick and minimally invasive. A fine needle is used to inject the Botox into the targeted areas, and the procedure usually takes around 10–15 minutes. Most people experience minimal discomfort, and there is no downtime. You can return to your daily activities right after the treatment.

Results are usually visible within 3–5 days after treatment, with full effects becoming apparent within 7–10 days. The lines and wrinkles will gradually soften, and your skin will look smoother and more youthful.

Botox is best for adults aged 18–65 who are looking to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, which are wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movement (like smiling, frowning, or squinting). It’s also beneficial for people looking for a preventative anti-aging treatment or those with excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Botox is generally safe, but some mild side effects may occur, including redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. In rare cases, there may be drooping eyelids, headaches and nausea. These side effects are temporary and tropically resolve on their own.

Dysport

Dysport™ will help relax muscles in the face that create unwanted expressions, such as frown lines between the brows, lines in the forehead, and crows feet. Frown lines and wrinkles occur because the muscles that control facial expression are used often (smiling, squinting, etc.) After Dysport™ is injected into the muscle, those muscles are relaxed for up to 12 to 16 weeks or even longer.

During your consultation Faisal Uraizee, MD will discuss ways to use Dysport™ that will allow your eyes, forehead, and brows to look more youthful and rested. Together you will decide the best way to use Dysport™ to achieve your desired result. Faisal Uraizee, MD will also discuss with you whether your result may be enhanced with skin care products, dermal fillers, or other surgical or non-surgical procedures.

In clinical trials, Dysport™ was shown to have a fast onset of 2 to 3 days for most people, but the final result should not be expected until 14 days after injection. You can go about your normal routine immediately after the injection. Most side effects are mild, and may include localized bruising and soreness.

To maintain your results, Dysport™ treatments are needed every three to four months.
